Our approach
Our approach can be summarized in a few simple words: “The right and requirement of citizens to benefit from nuclear energy.”
We seek to provide a platform for a third voice, distinct from those of the industry and anti-nuclear non-profits.
While we are convinced of the benefits that nuclear power can provide to our societies, we are not naive or complacent when it comes to the industry. We also believe that the only way to develop a sovereign, safe nuclear sector that benefits us all is to contribute to an informed public opinion.
Facingtheatom.fr therefore aims to be part of this learning process for the general public. By offering documented answers to the most common misconceptions about nuclear energy, the association hopes to enlighten citizens and allow them to become real actors in the energy future of our country.
This approach also originates in the same observation made by Voices of Nuclear when it was founded in 2018, and confirmed by the BVA survey of June 2019 [1] on the relationship of French citizens to risks. It reported that 86% of 18-34 year olds believed nuclear power was a significant contributor to climate change. And this same category of the population put climate change at the top of their electoral concerns.
These young people’s decisions are decisive in a time when our entire response to the climate crisis is at stake. That they would make choices contrary to their interests and convictions, for simple lack of information, is a fundamental problem for our democracies. This website seeks to help remedy this problem, in line with the historical approach of Voices.
